Does Memphis need a new Regional One hospital? For some, the answer is a resounding yes.

The alert crackled across the intercom late on a recent Thursday afternoon at Regional One Health: Helicopter inbound, 15 minutes out, Level 1 trauma.
While one might expect the medical personnel to suddenly jump into action that afternoon in the trauma department at Regional One, that didn’t happen.
Those trauma surgeons, nurses, technicians and more are all trauma veterans. This is what they do. No nerves. No anxiety, at least not yet.
