FedEx combines back shops, sets table to integrate ground, express

June 1 was a quiet, nearly unheralded milestone at FedEx Corp., the capstone of its work to integrate FedEx Ground, FedEx Express and FedEx Services into one operating company.
It is a defining illustration of FedEx’s work to integrate its networks — think fewer operating companies, one network — as it moves to improve margins and efficiencies in a world that still produces loads of packages, but increasingly different kinds.
