Nearly 200 charged federally since beginning of Memphis Task Force, US Attorney says
Nearly 200 people have been charged federally since the beginning of the Memphis Safe Task Force, U.S. Attorney Michael Dunavant said Friday, Dec. 12.
During his official swearing-in ceremony for his second time as the top prosecutor for West Tennessee, Dunavant said that 187 people have been charged by “complaint or indictment” since he returned in early October. That includes 14 for “assaulting, resisting, or impeding” law enforcement.
Dunavant’s office also has a 99% acceptance rate for cases from the Task Force, he said during the ceremony at City Hall. “We really are open for business,” Dunanvant said. “We’re taking everything they send us.”
