School board recall not possible under state, county law

If the Memphis-Shelby County Schools board had voted on the resolution before them Tuesday, Dec. 17, MSCS Superintendent Marie Feagins would have lost her job.
Based on comments during the meeting as well as interviews afterward, the nine-member board had five solid votes for firing Feagins: Chair Joyce Dorse Coleman and Vice Chair Stephanie Love as well as the three new members of the board elected in September, Towanna Murphy, Sable Otey and Natalie McKinney.
