U of M raises $55.1M, but officials acknowledge ‘headwinds’

The University of Memphis raised more than $55 million in combined academic and athletic funds in 2026, a tally that marked the second-highest total in the school’s history.
The $55,127,218 was nearly $10 million short of last year’s record of $64,899,090, school officials told the university’s Board of Trustees at its quarterly meeting Wednesday, Sept. 2.
“We had a great fiscal year of fundraising (with) $55.1 million, which was 110% of the goal,” Tara Jones, U of M senior vice president for advancement, told the board. “(Next year’s) goal is $56 million, and we’ll continue to raise that goal each year.”
