DeSoto officials say NAACP can’t sue circuit clerk

DeSoto County officials say the NAACP does not have legal standing to include Circuit Clerk Dale Thompson in a lawsuit concerning Black-voting power.
In September, the DeSoto County NAACP filed a complaint in federal court claiming the county’s 2022 redistricting plan hinders the ability of Black voters to elect candidates of their choice.
The county’s Board of Supervisors and Election Commission were named as defendants in the suit as well as Thompson in her capacity as circuit clerk.
