AI-powered cameras are monitoring Downtown

A new Memphis Police Department command center Downtown will be a “game changer” for the district, MPD Chief C.J. Davis said during a grand opening Thursday, April 24. 

“It’s more than just a building, it’s another tool in our toolkit,” Davis said to members of the public and other local officials gathered for the ceremony. 

The new command center, located at 250 Peabody Place, serves as a surveillance site of sorts, specifically for the Downtown area and similar to MPD’s existing Real-Time Crime Center.
