Amid high arrest numbers, Memphis Safe Task Force faces lawsuit over First Amendment rights

As the Memphis Safe Task Force touts unprecedented milestones in its ongoing campaign to curb violent crime, the multi-agency federally directed operation faces a federal lawsuit alleging systematic retaliation against residents who film police activity.
According to a complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee, four Memphis residents are suing top federal and state officials about the Task Force’s tactics.
