Idlewild’s bell tower will glow again, this time in two-tone LED light

The bell tower at Idlewild Presbyterian Church, a sentry in Midtown since it was completed in 1928, will soon be bathed in a blend of warm and cool light highlighting its architectural features and returning a beacon to the city.
The congregation will gather for the lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. Dec. 4.
The bell tower was originally lit in 1952. It has been dark so long now even congregational historian Perre Magness doesn’t remember seeing it lighted.
