Calkins: Sally Jones Heinz — ‘the face of MIFA’ — to step down

Geoff Calkins has been chronicling Memphis and Memphis sports for more than two decades. He is host of "The Geoff Calkins Show" from 9-11 a.m. M-F on 92.9 FM. Calkins has been named the best sports columnist in the country five times by the Associated Press sports editors, but still figures his best columns are about the people who make Memphis what it is.
Sally Jones Heinz remembers her very first day as executive director of the Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association.
“It snowed,” she said.
So, as one of her first acts, Heinz had to decide whether to send out volunteers to deliver Meals on Wheels.
“We closed,” she said. “But we always make sure our clients have emergency meals. So their needs were met.”
