Political Roundup: TN Republicans share misinformation after Helene

The reaction from the state’s federal elected officials to the devastation from the aftermath of Hurricane Helene started politely enough.
There was the usual request for the federal government, specifically the Federal Emergency Management Agency, to hasten the inevitable federal disaster aid that follows the disaster declaration and request by Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee.
U.S. Rep. Steve Cohen of Tennessee, the lone Democrat among the state’s two U.S. Senators and its nine U.S. House of Representatives members, joined in signing the request letter with the others and noted President Joe Biden had already started the flow of federal support.
