Happy birthday, Arlington! It’s Friday, Dec. 19, and the Town of Arlington turns 125 today. There’s a celebration with fireworks tonight. “It’s kind of like the Fourth of July and Christmas,” according to the town’s mayor.

Flying into Fred Smith: Memphis is joining the ranks of cities with airports named after important people.

Still on guard: The National Guard is going to be around for a while.

State letter grade time: Somebody should be getting a nice chunk of report card money with these grades.

Man sentenced for dumping body: They say everyone needs a friend who will help you hide a body. But that didn’t work out so well for Joshua Rogers.

Have yourself a Craig Brewer Christmas: Trade the Christmas carols for “Sweet Caroline” on Christmas night.

Flipping the script: Rumors have been swirling that Flip Side pinball bar is closed for good. But not so, say the owners

DeSoto judge gets DUI: DeSoto County Justice Court Judge Karen Sanders has been in court lately — on the other side of the judge’s bench.

Friends again: The Memphis fire union and city leaders have kissed and made up.

New for the old: There’s new housing in North Memphis for low-income seniors.
