A spirited war that pits a school, church and four liquor store owners — including those of Buster’s Liquors & Wines — against a new liquor store and the city is in full swing.

Entrepreneur Ethan Edwards said he has invested $1 million to open The Station, a 25,000-square-foot liquor store and more in the former Bed Bath & Beyond at 870 S. White Station Road. The address is roughly 1,500 feet from the nearby Woodland Presbyterian Church and School at 5217 Park Ave., depending on how one measures it, and that is where the trouble lies.
