On Wednesday night in Los Angeles, the Grizzlies played a road game without backcourt stars Ja Morant and Desmond Bane against a Lakers team that featured the two best players on the court in LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

The five-point loss is perhaps a disappointment, especially since the Grizzlies built a nine-point lead in the third quarter. But there was a lot of encouragement to take from the game.

The Grizzlies had won five of their previous six games by double digits despite being shorthanded and still playing a deep rotation.
