Grizzlies center Jonas Valanciunas (17) is a popular, important player on the team. But Grizz management is willing to trade, says Geoff Calkins, because it wants a championship. (Brandon Dill/AP file)

Calkins has been named the best sports columnist in the country five times by the Associated Press sports editors, but still figures his best columns are about the people who make Memphis what it is.
Grizzlies GM Zach Kleiman has always said the goal is to bring an NBA title to Memphis. And if that required dealing Jonas Valanciunas, he was willing to do it. Memphis fans should be glad.
