Memphis Grizzlies guard Luke Kennard stood over his first putt of the day, a birdie try from an estimated 15 feet.

It was breaking left to right, his pairing had figured out, because all four of his scramble partners had missed the same putt just moments before.

They needed Kennard, the least experienced golfer of them all, to come in clutch.

He knocked it firm, pushing it straight through the slope on the green and into the cup with pace. If he didn’t have pinpoint accuracy, it might have rolled four feet past the flag.

But that’s what Kennard does. He operates only with precision.

“Put the ball in the hole,” Kennard said. “That’s my job.”

On Thursday at the Danny Thomas Celebrity-Am benefiting St. Jude, and for the NBA franchise 45 minutes down the road.
