‘It’s crazy, isn’t it?’: Grizzlies destruction tour rolls on in Atlanta

In a league where 15-point leads can disappear in a blink, the Grizzlies had just completed their second straight wire-to-wire victory, beating the Hawks, 128-112, at State Farm Arena.

Let the tour of destruction roll on.

Is it not enough for Memphis to just win by a little bit anymore? The Grizzlies are routinely running away with huge leads.

“It’s crazy, isn’t it?” said Desmond Bane, sounding a little surprised. “Yeah, it’s pretty wild.”

In a stretch where the team has won four of its last five, the Grizzlies are winning by an average of 27.8 points. They have been a well-oiled machine offensively, stacking huge point totals and running over weaker competition with hardly any pushback at all.

“A 20-point lead in the NBA is nothing, as crazy as that sounds,” Grizzlies forward Santi Aldama said. “But for us, once we’ve got them there, we make sure to put the foot on the gas. We want to make sure they don’t think (a comeback) is a possibility.”
