Morant’s late heroics propel Grizzlies past Wolves in nailbiter

MINNEAPOLIS — Ja Morant was shooting 3-17 from the floor with more fouls than assists and was spending the middle of the fourth quarter sitting on the bench, padding draped over his recently injured right shoulder.

Then it was the late fourth quarter, under three minutes to play, and maybe some were starting to wonder whether Morant would come back to finish this game.

His head coach harbored no such doubts.

“Oh, he was coming back in,” said Taylor Jenkins soon after his team’s 127-125 road win against the Minnesota Timberwolves, which pushed the team’s record to 25-14. “We know he’s built for those moments.”

He and his wife have two kids and, for reasons that sometimes elude him, three dogs.
