With ‘no excuse’ after lopsided loss to Bulldogs, Tigers look ahead

After the No. 21 Tigers (9-3) fell to Mississippi State Saturday at FedExForum, Memphis point guard Tyrese Hunter took the loss on the chin.
“I feel like we really ain’t got no excuse, honestly,” he said to reporters. “They came out and wanted it more than us.”
The way the game against the Bulldogs (11-1) played out — with coach Penny Hardaway’s team trailing by as many as 24 points to its regional rival in front of its largest home crowd of the season — may have been emotionally exhausting for fans. The Tigers, though, are taking the result in stride and refusing to forget what they believe they’re made of.
