Tim is a veteran sportswriter who graduated from CBHS in Memphis and the University of Missouri. He previously covered LSU sports in Baton Rouge, and the University of Louisiana football and basketball for The Daily Advertiser/USA TODAY Network in Lafayette, the NBA’s Utah Jazz for the Deseret News in Salt Lake City, the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning for the St. Petersburg Times in Florida, and West Texas State basketball for the Amarillo Globe News in Texas.
He spent two seasons at South Florida in the American Conference, last season at Big Ten member Northwestern, and is now back in the American with the Memphis Tigers.
Point guard Jayden Reid is a basketball nomad, bouncing from school to school like so many big-sport college athletes do these days.
His journey offers a window into not only the vagabond ways of today’s NIL- and NCAA transfer portal-era athlete but also into what it’s like for so many in college to earn a degree these days.
