Memphis athletics nears stadium renovation fundraising goal

The Memphis athletic department has raised $26,168,000 toward its Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium renovation project, Tigers athletic director Ed Scott told the University of Memphis Board of Trustees during a regularly scheduled meeting Wednesday.

The Tigers are tasked with fundraising at least $50 million toward the $222 million project to execute a $50 million matching pledge made by FedEx founder Fred Smith and the Smith family.
