When it comes to coaching, Charles Huff learned what he needed to know in college — and from his father

Charles Huff’s journey to becoming the new Memphis Tigers football coach can be traced back to his childhood farm in Denton, Maryland.
Huff has worked with some of the most respected coaches in the profession, including the legendary Nick Saban and current Virginia Tech coach James Franklin. He learned from both coaches, but the foundational principles that drive his coaching style began to form well before he crossed paths with those two.
Spending his childhood mornings cleaning pig pens while watching his father drive 90 minutes to Delaware for work each day helped lay the foundation for Huff to turn himself into a respected enough coach to land one of the best non-power conference jobs in the country.
