Officer in charge of DeSoto sex-offender registry recognized for work
Sgt. Bryan Andrews took charge of the DeSoto County sheriff’s sex-offender registry in 2021, shifting the department’s reactive posture when investigating noncompliant offenders to one more proactive.
Now, other law enforcement agencies are taking notice. Earlier this month, Andrews was named Mississippi’s top sex-offender compliance officer for 2024, and some of his early initiatives function today as pilot programs statewide.
“This just shows we made the right decision in putting this load on Sgt. Andrew’s shoulders,” Capt. Jeremy Dodson said.
