A former youth pastor at Getwell Church Hernando, who also worked as an assistant basketball coach at DeSoto Central High School, is charged with one felony count of sexual battery of a child under the age of 18, according to a grand jury indictment.

Lindsey Aldy Whiteside, 26, is accused of engaging in a sexual act with an underage female in May. According to an indictment returned earlier this month by a DeSoto County grand jury, Whiteside was in a “position of trust or authority over the child.”

“While this is an ongoing case, and we must be careful not to disclose information that could compromise the victim’s privacy, we can confirm that the December Grand Jury of DeSoto County has indicted Lindsey Whiteside on the charge of sexual battery of a minor child by a person of trust or authority,” said DeSoto District Attorney Matthew Barton.
