Hernando’s $9M parks renovation begins
The long-term plan to spend roughly $9.2 million upgrading Hernando’s 73-acre Renasant Park got underway Friday, Jan. 3, as work began on the project’s first phase.
Once completed, Phase 1 should boast an 18-hole disc golf course, a 3.5-acre native grass and wildflower meadow and a newly constructed entertainment pavilion.
“I don’t like to overuse words, but this is a momentous occasion,” said Hernando Mayor Chip Johnson as city officials gathered to recognize the start of the work. “This is the largest dollar amount grant ever given to the parks department of Hernando.
