The DeSoto County Board of Supervisors denied allegations that some of its members made racist remarks and asked former Landers Center executive director Todd Mastry to stop booking Black artists at the Southaven venue.

In a statement released late Tuesday, Feb. 4, through the Bridgforth, Buntin & Emerson law firm, the supervisors denied claims of racism and racial disparity alleged in a lawsuit filed by Mastry last week.

“No member of the Board of Supervisors has ever stated that any act at the Landers Center should be selected or denied based upon race,” the statement reads.
