The DeSoto County Board of Supervisors has tapped its longest-serving member to lead the county through the coming year, electing District 1 Supervisor Jessie Medlin as board president for 2026.
During the board’s first meeting of the year, District 4 Supervisor Mark Gardner formally passed the gavel to Medlin. The board also elected District 3 Supervisor Ray Denison to serve as vice president.
While the selection process follows a tradition of changing the leadership role among the five supervisors, the appointment highlights the tenure of Medlin serving his ninth term in office.
