Shelby County reports 29 new cases after more than 1,400 tests
The Shelby County Health Department reported 29 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday while administering 1,424 tests – a positive rate of 2%.
The Health Department reported 270 less tests than performed the day prior.
To date, 57,967 tests have been performed in Shelby County. Of those, 4,034 were positive. The county’s overall positivity rate continues to decline and is slightly less than 7%.
The Health Department reported a total of 91 deaths – three more since Wednesday’s 10 a.m. update.
At this time, 2,714 people have recovered from the virus, 1,229 cases remain active.
The Tennessee Department of Health releases updates daily at 2 p.m. According to Wednesday’s report, 18,532 cases of coronavirus have been reported in Tennessee since March 5.
The state department reported 11,783 people have recovered and 309 people have died from viral complications. The state has tested 354,013 and 1,515 people have been hospitalized statewide.
