Local coronavirus fund tops $2 million in grants dispersed

With its most recent distribution of $95,000, a local coronavirus relief fund has now surpassed $2 million in distributed grants. 

The Community Foundation of Greater Memphis announced that the Mid-South COVID-19 Regional Response Fund awarded its tenth round of grants to seven organizations. The fund supports organizations impacted by coronavirus. 

Individuals, businesses and foundations have donated more than $3.6 million to the fund; $2 million was been awarded to organizations since March 18.

The latest grants are as follows:

  • ALLMemphis: $5,000 to provide learning packets and supportive services to kids at home due to the COVID-19 outbreak
  • Building Better Lives Inc.: $10,000 to distribute food weekly to 300+ families in 38108 (Springdale/Hollywood/Hyde Park) 
  • Family Safety Center of Memphis and Shelby County: $25,000 to quickly and confidentially serve victims of abuse during the COVID-19 outbreak 
  • OUTMemphis: $10,000 to compile and distribute food and hygiene kits to people in need for the duration of the COVID-19 outbreak 
  • Refuge Memphis: $5,000 to purchase food/supplies for the Raleigh/Frayser/North Memphis communities 
  • Room in the Inn – Memphis: $25,000 to provide medical respite for recently discharged patients seeking shelter and considered to be medically fragile 
  • YWCA of Greater Memphis: $15,000 to provide increased services to victims of domestic abuse during the COVID-19 outbreak
