Opinion: Racism is causing a mental health crisis

Dr. LaShaunda Poindexter Massey is a clinical psychologist who provides mental health services for youth and adults through her private practice. She is a member of the Board of Directors for Special Olympics of Greater Memphis, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mid-South and the Junior League of Memphis.
The need has become even more dire given the pandemics facing our society. Black people, especially, are under mental siege and more Black psychologists and psychiatrists are needed to support them.
