Posh Lighting, based in Jackson, Tennessee, has moved into the Memphis market, opening a store in Arlington featuring custom lighting, furniture and home accessories and interior design services.
The newly opened location at 5226 Airline Road, is co-owned by Kelly and Roger Murray, along with John Ellis, who bought an existing 10-year-old business in December 2018. Five months later they already had revamped and moved the store.
“When we took over, we decided to go more in the direction of a lighting showroom and offer furnishings and home accessories as well, and we relocated the business to a growing area in North Jackson,” said Kelly Murray, who is also a realtor and real estate investor. Her husband, Roger Murray III, runs private security company Murray Guard Inc., which has been in business for more than 50 years. Ellis is a general contractor and real estate investor.
“Our business partnership seemed like the perfect marriage, so to speak, with our contacts and experience on the construction side,” Murray said.
Before taking over Posh, the store had been a small furniture boutique that also sold women’s and children’s clothing. Once that store’s makeover was complete, the partners looked for a place to expand. They headed west on Interstate 40 and landed at the first town in Shelby County.
“Arlington just struck us with its strong sense of community and small-town atmosphere,” said Murray. “From the time we started construction on it, the local people have stopped in to welcome us. They seem to have a great approach to supporting small business.”
The Posh stores carry lighting lines like Visual Comfort & Co. and Gabby, and the store’s website features more than 20,000 lights. Furniture lines include Rowe, Stanford, CR Laine, Lee, Gabby and more. Murray points out that they sell a variety of price points to accommodate any budget on its product lines, and small décor accessories include candles, throw pillows, artwork and more.
“If you need to pick up a gift for a birthday, we’re able to help, or we’re here if you need to furnish your whole home,” said Murray.
The new 3,000-square-foot location in Arlington had a soft opening in mid-September and will conduct a grand opening soon.
“It’s nice that Posh wanted to enter the Memphis market,” said Arlington Chamber of Commerce Director Tonia Howell. “We’re excited they chose Arlington for their entry.”
The store is still waiting on a couple of lighting installations and a few pieces of furniture to arrive.

“Posh Lighting is so much more than lighting; it’s really posh interiors,” Sarah Roberson, the Arlington store’s general manager, said. “We do a lot of customizations. Probably 90% of our furniture can be customized, whether you want to change the fabric, the leg style, or the finish.”
She expects clients to include new homeowners that need everything from the ground up as well as people looking to reinvigorate their existing spaces.
The store is likely to hire more employees in the coming months as business increases. Posh could expand to more locations in the future.
“We’re always looking for an opportunity. I think that’s just in our nature,” said Murray. “We’re very excited to be in Arlington and can’t wait to become more involved.”
