Coronavirus: Shelby County’s seven-day average hovers near 740

Shelby County has averaged 741 new reported coronavirus cases for the past seven days.
In the week just prior to this one, Shelby County was averaging 798 new cases per day.
On Wednesday, Sept. 1, the Shelby County Health Department reported 1,147 new coronavirus cases and 11 new coronavirus-related deaths.

About 42% — or 486 — of the new cases are pediatric. Of the 9,008 currently active coronavirus cases in Shelby County, 3,443 of the infections are in children.
Shelby County’s reported coronavirus total is now 126,696 cases, including 1,873 deaths.
In Shelby County, 464,450 people have been vaccinated against the novel coronavirus, meaning that the county is 66.3% of the way to its goal of vaccinating 700,000 residents.
Shelby County has averaged 1,917 vaccinations per day for the past seven days.
The latest available hospital data is current as of 5 p.m. Aug. 25.
At that time, 97% of area intensive care unit and 94% of area acute care beds were in use; 10 ICU and 137 acute care beds were available.
And, there were 701 COVID-positive patients in area hospital beds.
