Funeral arrangements set for Mike Bowen

Services will be Saturday at Hope Church for Memphis businessman Mike Bowen, who died in a car crash in Costa Rica over the weekend.

Visitation is from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. Saturday in the South Hall of Hope, 8500 Walnut Grove in Cordova. The memorial service will begin at 1:30 p.m.

Bowen, 61, was the CEO of Champion Awards and Apparel Inc. and served in various capacities throughout the community, including Leadership Memphis, Jaycees Foundation and Special Olympics.

"My father was a true trailblazer for recidivism reform and succeeded in changing the conversation on how we treat one another in our community," Bowen's family said in a statement. "His wife and family give heartfelt thanks for the outpouring of support we have received in this very difficult time."

Bowen leaves his wife, Suzie, and two sons, Michael and Colby.

The family asks that in lieu flowers, donations be sent to Kindred Place, 2180 Union Ave., Memphis, TN. 38104.
