With the drought in the Western United States, some people in California want to build a pipeline from the Mississippi River to California to meet its water needs. Southern California, especially Los Angeles and Nevada, have been using the Colorado River to meet their water needs to such an extent that the river dries up before it gets out of California, depriving Mexico of that water source.
The U.S. depends on the Mississippi to bring food and goods inexpensively to the rest of the country. Our river is near-historic lows, which means barges are running aground and river traffic is very slow, disrupting the supply chain. We do not need to suffer the same fate as Mexico. No consideration should be given to building the pipeline.
