“Memphis has been really good to my family, and this is our gift back,” said the executive manager of Ronnie Grisanti’s. “This is a classic Memphis dish that we’re really proud to serve.”
“We started working on the recipe about two years ago,” said Randi Belisomo, the executive manager of Ronnie Grisanti’s. “Mr. Art Seessel has been a great friend of my family and a great customer. He knows my feelings about Seessel’s and Seessel’s bakery.”
Two years ago, Art Seessel — the president of Seessel’s when it closed and a member of the fifth generation of the family to own and operate the grocery chain — gave Belisomo the recipe for the dessert, but the only problem was that it was the commercial recipe, intended to make 200 pies at a time.
