Taking a plunge: Freshwater aquariums dive into Bartlett
For aquarium buff and entrepreneur Warren Hume, hanging out in the Aquariums Memphis saltwater-only store in Bartlett actually served as a catalyst for opening his own business.
And bringing Fins Freshwater Aquariums shop across the parking lot from Aquariums Memphis seemed like a nice connection to the area. He was aware of the interest after shopping at the saltwater fish business and hearing the inquiries of its customers.
The proximity could also help both businesses.
“Every time I was at the saltwater place people would come in and ask the owner where they could buy freshwater fish,” Hume said. “I told him if he wasn’t going to open a freshwater place then I was going to, and I was going to put it across the parking lot where we can point at each other.”
Hume runs his new shop at 5720 Stage Road with his son, Jonathan.
