The 2024 Olympics get underway July 24 in Paris. This week, however, track and field fans can see some high-level competition — and some Olympians to boot — right here in Memphis.
The Eighth Ed Murphey Classic, which began as a humble meet with a handful of pros and has since grown into a World Athletics Continental Tour silver event and a stop on the Puma American Track League, begins Thursday.
In a tweak of the format, field events will take place the first day followed by running events Friday, both at the University of Memphis’ Billy J. Murphy Athletic Complex on the Park Avenue Campus.
