After sitting dormant for several years, the former Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant at 8274 U.S. Highway 64 in Bartlett has been torn down.

The majority of the work took place last week, making way for a new Club Car Wash to be built soon.

The prominent freestanding building had sat closed since the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I really enjoyed Abuelo’s. It was one of my favorite places to eat, and I was really hoping that something like that would go back in there,” Bartlett Mayor David Parsons said. “It sure was a nice building to tear down.”
