Chipotle received a unanimous endorsement for its final site plan from the Germantown Planning Commission on Tuesday. The Design Review Commission and Board of Mayor and Aldermen must still approve the plans.
Back Yard Burgers operated at 2110 West Street in Germantown from 1994 until it closed in January. It was originally built for Pizza Hut 40 years ago.
“This is a great rebrand of a distressed property,” Alderman Jon McCreery said as he welcomed the restaurant to the suburb.
Chipotle wants to build a new 2,131-square-foot building on nearly 0.8 acres. The property sits on the east side of the street south of Poplar and adjacent to the Stephen Stansell Square center.
