Ice pop shops to open in Bartlett, Berclair

Two Michoacán-style paleteria and neveria shops, or ice pop shops and ice cream parlors, have opened locally.
The store, 901 Slushies, Ice Cream & Treats, is leasing the 1,450-square-foot space at 1469 Wells Station Road in Berclair and the 1,300-square-foot space at 6253 Stage Road in Bartlett.

It will offer a variety of Mexican-inspired sweet treats, including Jarritos Mexican soda-based slushies, ice cream and sherbert, 40 to 50 flavors of cream and water-based paletas/ice pops, a candy bar with 30 to 40 candies to mix into the slushies and ice cream, Mexican corn in a cup, fresas con crema, cookies, cakes and fruit cocktails.
“Anything you can think of, we’re going to try to have in there,” said co-owner Christopher Calix. “We’re going to have a bunch of different exotic flavors, including corn-flavored ice cream, bubble gum, Twix and more flavors you never thought would taste so good.”
