Vicki Gandee, candidate for Germantown Municipal School District’s school board, has sued the system for $5 million due to an injury to her son.

The complaint, filed in Shelby County Circuit Court in 2016, has yet to be settled. The Gandee family’s complaint stems from an injury their son Jackson Gandee suffered while lifting weights at Houston High’s football practice as part of conditioning.

The lawsuit names the district, former coach Will Hudgens, Houston High and the city. Those parties were dismissed. The lawsuit between the Gandees and the school board is still pending.
