Today — Sept. 18 — Downtown’s Center City Development Corp. will consider grants for projects in three vacant buildings, including a century-old warehouse in the heart of the Edge District that could house a restaurant and commercial space.

In other vacant-building news, the Downtown Mobility Authority could approve new terms today for the 100 N. Main sale that would allow the developers to buy the building for a lot less money.

Put this down in your iCal. On Oct. 8, CBS will air an Oprah Winfrey special featuring a sit-down with Riley Keough, Elvis Presley’s granddaughter. That’s the same date Keogh’s new memoir drops. Filmed at Graceland, the interview touches on the pressures of being a Presley and Keogh’s relationship with mother Lisa Marie.

A new, Western-inspired restaurant, The Overland, should softly open in Germantown this week, even after its chef suddenly quit on Monday night. Owner Spence Ray was inspired by his time in the Northwest mountains for the restaurant’s concept, which features Western-style decor and will serve a menu of elk, bison and fresh fish.

Plus, a Germantown man is arrested for arson, an ex-cop testifies in Tyre Nichols trial and the AAC commissioner wants Memphis to stay.
