A meal with a view at Mahogany River Terrace

For two years, Carlee McCullough has been renovating the former River Terrace restaurant on Mud Island to transform it into Mahogany River Terrace, a restaurant, bar and event space.

“You can’t get any closer to the river without being in it,” McCullough said. “No one has a view like this. Really, every seat in the house pretty much has a great view.”

The space, which most recently was briefly home to Memphis Sounds, is roughly 5,500 square feet with a lower dining area, outside patio dining area, mezzanine lounge space, third floor bar with a dining area and rooftop.

“The mezzanine really points out what our theme is — we are bringing the outside in,” McCullough said, noting various animal statues and patterns in the space.

“I don’t think there had really been any renovations here since the beginning,” McCullough said of the building dating back to 1982. “We knew we needed to brighten it up.”
