Medical device manufacturer MicroPort Orthopedics is selling off land surrounding its facility at 5677 Airline Roa in Arlington.

Earlier this week, the Arlington Planning Commission unanimously passed a rezoning of 26 acres along Airline and Memphis-Arlington roads from light industrial use to shopping center commercial. The additional land was earmarked for MicroPort’s growth.

The five parcels are now for sale.

MicroPort fabricates, including some work done by hand, highly detailed parts and tools used in more than 100,000 knee and hip replacements annually.

The change comes as commercial growth along Airline Road has increased in recent years, with a stream of new buildings and businesses popping up in town.
