Future of Quail Ridge Golf Course uncertain following closure
With the final putt drained at Quail Ridge Golf Course last weekend, the focus for concerned citizens and Bartlett officials is the future use for the property, which is for sale.
The 18-hole layout at 4055 Altruria Road in Bartlett, the city’s only golf course, operated under a special permit since opening in 1994, but the area is zoned for residential use.
Residents along the golf course are worried a developer will convert the property into an apartment complex or homes. Some hope the city might step in and buy the land and operate the course.
That seems unlikely with a cost factor as a major deterrent for getting in the golf course business. Bartlett Mayor David Parsons says the city currently has no plans to purchase the property.
