Morrison Village to add to bustling activity on Houston Levee

A new mixed-use development near Carriage Crossing gained a key approval Monday, Nov. 11, from Collierville’s Board of Mayor and Alderman.

Boyle Investment’s Morrison Village earned its preliminary site plan approval in a 5-1 vote, with Alderman Billy Patton voting no. The Planning Commission unanimously endorsed the project in September.

The development will add apartments and businesses to the southern portion of Houston Levee Road between Tenn. 385 and Shea Road. The apartment entitlements were granted in 1998. Legally, aldermen had little ability to deny them.

Apartment developments in Collierville stem from prior decisions

“That was prior to any of us being on this board,” Alderman John Worley noted.

Boyle is proposing 100 apartment units in multi-use buildings. There will be 72 studio or one-bedroom units and 18 with two bedrooms. Only 10 units will include three bedrooms, which should mean low impact on the suburb’s schools, Boyle representatives said.

Below the apartments, various shops will complement the residences on the ground floor.
