Germantown seeks appointment for Board of Education vacancy
Germantown will begin accepting applications this week as part of the process to appoint a person to the Board of Education, filling the role of Dr. Daniel Chatham.
Last month, Chatham, a member of the board since his 2022 election, announced his intention to resign at the end of the calendar year after enrolling his children in a Christian private school earlier this year. About two years remain in his term.

In the city’s ordinance creating Germantown Municipal School District, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen appoints a replacement to the school board whenever a vacancy occurs.
GMSD’s board formally accepted Chatham’s letter during its Nov. 21 meeting. Notice was given to the city, and the Board of Mayor and Aldermen formally declared the vacancy during its Nov. 25 meeting.
