Germantown teachers will be getting bonuses

Germantown Municipal School District’s board opposes vouchers but approved a resolution Wednesday evening in light of them passing the Tennessee Legislature.

As part of the voucher legislation, school districts had the option to participate in receiving funds for teacher bonuses of at least $2,000. The legislation required the local boards of education to approve a resolution stating they wanted the funds. The deadline for the one-time bonus resolution is June 1.

“Although the Germantown Municipal Schools Board of Education opposes vouchers, it does not wish for its opposition to vouchers to prevent GMSD ‘teachers’ from receiving the ($2,000 bonus),” the resolution states.
