Stars shine at Houston Track Classic

Saturday’s Houston Track Classic was the last one under the current set-up. Construction is soon to begin on a $3 million renovation project that will — among other things — expand the Houston High track to the standard eight lanes from its current seven.

The workers won’t have as much to do as they might have though. Several competitors tore up the track themselves.

High marks and even higher aspirations were the order of the day at the annual showcase, the largest track and field competition in the Mid-South. Among the many impressive performers was Whitehaven High’s Christopher Talley.
