A long and winding road: Lakeland’s New Canada Road finally nears construction

Envisioned since the early 1990s, construction on New Canada Road in Lakeland could finally start in the next couple of months.
The long-awaited 2.3-mile project represents a realignment of the existing Canada Road between Interstate 40 and U.S. 70. The new route will end up as a four-lane divided street featuring landscaped islands and separated bike and pedestrian trails on both sides of the road.
